Stolen BMW Discovery Leads to Duo’s Arrest In Armed Long Island Carjacking

Two men were arrested in connection with an armed carjacking on Long Island after police located the stolen vehicle and pursued the suspects.

According to Suffolk County Police, the incident took place on Saturday, Nov. 1, at approximately 10:40 p.m., when three men, armed with guns, approached a woman on Oakridge Circle in Ridge, grabbed her key fob, and stole her BMW.

Following a swift investigation, police located the BMW on Wicks Avenue in North Babylon at around 11:55 p.m. Officers recovered a gun inside the vehicle and soon spotted one of the suspects nearby. 

After a foot pursuit, Dayne Thomas-Orr, age 18, of Centereach, was apprehended on Garnet Street in North Babylon at 12:05 a.m. and was found carrying a firearm. 

Roughly an hour later, another suspect, Ameer Johnson, age 18, of Coram, was taken into custody on Polaris Street in North Babylon at 1:17 a.m.

Thomas-Orr faces charges of:

  • Robbery in the first degree
  • Robbery in the second degree
  • Criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree
  • Criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree

Johnson was charged with:

  • Robbery in the first degree
  • Robbery in the second degree

The search for additional suspects is ongoing.
